Northern Sierra Nevada Foothills.  This small town was originally situated along
a well traveled stage route that led to Susanville and Nevada, and is best known
for its history of gold mining. 

In fact, in 1859, the largest gold nugget ever
found in North America was discovered in Paradise at the Willard Mine--a
whopping 54 pounds! The breathtaking beauty of the Paradise ridge remains as
exquisite today as it was when the first gold miners staked their claims along
the area's sparkling rivers and streams. 

Clear Creek, Butte Creek and the foaming branches of the Feather River snake
their way through the stunning local canyons, while wildflowers and tall pines
grow in abundance to add to the amazing scenery.  It is normal to see a deer
grazing in a nearby pasture, or maybe even in your backyard.

As a small town, the unfortunate stereotype would be that there is little to
do.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Paradise and the surrounding
areas have some of the best fishing, hiking, hunting, and swimming in Northern
California, some hot spots known by the locals and tourists, but many are a well
kept secret.

Fish with your kids at Paradise Lake, or if you are a diehard angler, the
